Who is our target audience?

As our thriller involves murder, sex and perhaps drug use, we want it to be a '15' certificate.

 If our thriller were to be made, we can imagine that the audience would consist of people like 'Joey Flynn'. By looking at his profile it is clear that he has a huge interest in thrillers, and therefore he will thoroughly enjoy our film which is of the thriller genre. This man likes 'Salt' a film involving a sexual, flirtatious female, which shows he is attracted by well known, beautiful leads such as Angelina Jolie. Our thriller involves a young women so we are perhaps aiming for a early 20's upwards, male audience.

This is Alex. He is 27. He is a big fan of psychological and erotic thrillers such as: 
'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' and 'Eyes Wide Shut'

Relating target audience to our thriller

We can see here that men saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 4 times more than women, we conclude that this is merely because of the fact the lead is a beautiful female. Men are attracted to the woman therefore to the film! Likewise we have a seductive women in our thriller, so our target audience is probably mainly male too. The majority of men were aged 18-29, also demonstrating that this is perhaps the age bracket of our thriller. If we involved a handsome young actor in our thriller, it would determine the amount of women attending the film.

Monster
Again, due to the beautiful lead woman, Charlize Theron ratio of men is far higher than of women. Although she plays a hugely contradicting role in this film to what's expected, men are clearly more interested in seeing her. The highest age rate is again men between 18-29 and also men between 30-44. The film is very aggressive and grotesque at some points, so could be argued not a 'feminine type of film'.

We can expect our audience to be mainly men, as thriller's seem to appeal to that gender according to  ranking, however with a leading, glamorous murderess, we could always expect women to be intrigued and want to watch in inspiration!

Lucy's comments demonstrate that our film could be directed at 17 year old female's. However, Lucy enjoys action and 'fast chase' which our thriller probably lacks, as it's based on psychological events. She seemed to keen to watch our film as well, despite a genre of her favourite film's being historical (which our thriller doesn't convey.) Lucy's favourite film is 'Burlesque', which has a strong relation to 'Slides of Seduction' as its all about conning people through sexuality. This person is a perfect example of our target audience.



Liam, 17, wants to see a thriller that 'keeps you on the edge of your seat' which our thriller certainly does, with help from the subverted stereotype, gender transition. His favourite film was 'Sixth Sense' giving us an idea that he enjoys something that involves horrific as well as thrilling. Sixth Sense is hugely psychological, with lots of 'twists' that are crucial to figure out- similar to our own thriller. Liam enjoys thrillers and action films, so it is unclear of whether he'd enjoy our film, as it may lack action. However, it is indecisive of whether this would be included. Liam's favourite film is 'Filth' a comedy-based drama, which has dark aspects to it. Liam is the perfect male target audience for our film.



Hannah is 15, and seems innocent in the way she talks. We could perhaps suggest from this that she is already, not the correct target audience for our thriller. She suggests 'sex' is a crucial element of thriller's as it is used as a contrast to the fighting and action scenes. When questioned about what she likes about thrillers, she makes it clear she doesn't watch them, but gives examples of what people may like in them e.g. heart rate increases. Hannah likes the thriller 'Shutter Island' as it has Leonardo DiCaprio in it (a pre-sold element) and it is also psychological, making you think about the plot in great detail. She doesn't seem keen on watching the plot of our thriller, as she prefers light-hearted films. Her favourite film genre's are Rom-Com or fantasy, she likes easy-watching films ( Harry Potter and 'Just go with it'.) Based on this interview, we should aim our thriller at 15+, males and selective females (depending on their personal preferences).
